My Personal Playlist: Songs That Inspire Me

Music has always been more than just entertainment for me but it has been a source of comfort and strength. During moments when I felt sad and depressed, I found myself turning to K‑Pop groups whose songs carried me through those emotions. Their lyrics and melodies became a safe space, reminding me that I wasn’t alone. Even today, there are certain lines from those songs that I hold close to my heart, almost like a motto I live by. This blog is my way of celebrating those voices and sharing how music from different countries continues to inspire me.

I have always believed that music is a universal language, and my playlist proves it. Over the years, I’ve explored songs from many different countries—C‑Pop, J‑Pop, English tracks, Thai hits, and Indonesian ballads. Each genre has its own beauty, but for this blog I want to focus on the music that has touched me the most: K‑Pop. These songs have been my companions during both sadness and joy, and some lyrics have even become guiding words that I hold onto in life. In this post, I will share my favorite K‑Pop groups and the songs that continue to inspire me.

K‑Pop from Korea

I enjoy listening to many different K‑Pop groups, each with their own unique style and message. Their music has been a big part of my life, especially during times when I felt down. However, for this blog I will only list five of my favorite groups. These are the ones whose songs I return to again and again, and whose lyrics have left a lasting impact on me.

SEVENTEEN

Seventeen is a South Korean boy band. Formed by Pledis Entertainment, the group consists of thirteen members: S.Coups, Jeonghan, Joshua, Jun, Hoshi, Wonwoo, Woozi, DK, Mingyu, The8, Seungkwan, Vernon, and Dino. Seventeen is considered a "self-producing" idol group, with the members involved in songwriting, music production, and choreographing, among other aspects of their music and performances.

Seventeen – Not Alone

Among the many songs I’ve listened to, Not Alone by Seventeen holds a very special place in my heart. The group’s message of hope and togetherness gave me strength during times when I felt isolated. Their voices reminded me that even in difficult moments, I am never truly alone.

One lyric that inspires me is:
“Even if the world turns its back on me, I’m not alone.”

This line became a powerful reminder that there is always support, whether from friends, family, or even the music itself. It taught me to keep believing in myself and to hold on to the idea that connection exists beyond loneliness.

ATEEZ

Ateez is a South Korean boy band formed by KQ Entertainment. The group consists of eight members: Hongjoong, Seonghwa, Yunho, Yeosang, San, Mingi, Wooyoung and Jongho. They debuted on October 24, 2018, with the extended play (EP) Treasure EP.1: All to Zero.

 ATEEZ – Dreamer

ATEEZ has always stood out to me for their powerful energy and motivational lyrics. Their song Dreamer is one that I often listen to when I need encouragement to keep chasing my goals. The rhythm is uplifting, and the message reminds me that dreams are worth fighting for, no matter how difficult the journey may be.

One lyric that inspires me is:
“Don’t stop, keep on chasing your dream.”

This line pushes me to stay determined even when challenges appear. It reminds me that persistence and belief in myself are the keys to achieving what I want in life. Listening to Dreamer feels like having a friend cheering me on, telling me not to give up.

ENHYPEN

Enhypen is a South Korean boy band formed by Belift Lab. Formerly a joint venture between CJ ENM and Hybe Corporation, the group was formed through the 2020 survival competition show I-Land. The group consists of six members: Jay, Jake, Sunghoon, Sunoo, Jungwon, and Ni-Ki. Originally a seven-piece ensemble, Heeseung left the group in March 2026. They debuted on November 30, 2020, with the extended play Border: Day One.

ENHYPEN’s music has always given me strength and motivation. Their song Shoot Out carries a powerful energy that reminds me to face challenges head‑on, no matter how difficult they may seem. It feels like a call to be brave and unstoppable.

One lyric that inspires me is: “Break the walls, don’t be afraid.”

This line pushes me to overcome obstacles and reminds me that fear should never hold me back.

On the other hand, Into the I-LAND has a softer, hopeful message. It speaks about dreams, unity, and the journey of becoming stronger together. This song is very meaningful to me because it speaks about courage, hope, and the journey of chasing dreams. The melody feels gentle yet powerful, and it always reminds me to keep moving forward no matter how hard life gets.

One lyric that inspires me is:
“Just run for your life.”

This simple but strong line pushes me to never stop, even when I feel tired or discouraged. It tells me that life is about running toward your dreams, not away from them. Every time I hear it, I feel a spark of determination to keep going and to believe in myself.

ITZY

tzy is a South Korean girl group formed by JYP Entertainment. The group consists of five members: Yeji, Lia, Ryujin, Chaeryeong, and Yuna. They are recognized for their "teen crush" concept and for exploring themes of independence and self-love in their music.

ITZY’s music is full of confidence and energy, and Wannabe is one of the songs that inspires me the most. The group’s message about being true to yourself and not letting others define who you are really speaks to me. Whenever I listen to this track, I feel stronger and more determined to live life on my own terms.

One lyric that inspires me is:
“I wanna be me, me, me.”

This simple but powerful line reminds me that I don’t need to change for anyone else. It encourages me to embrace my individuality and to be proud of who I am. Wannabe is more than just a catchy song—it’s a declaration of self‑confidence that I carry with me every day.

IVE

Ive is a South Korean girl group formed by Starship Entertainment. The group is composed of six members: Gaeul, An Yu-jin, Rei, Jang Won-young, Liz, and Leeseo. Ive is known for their viral songs and for achieving one of the most successful debuts in recent K-pop, having received several rookie awards and featuring on Forbes Korea Power Celebrity 40.

IVE’s song Rebel Heart speaks about courage, individuality, and the strength to follow your own path. The group’s confident style and empowering lyrics make this track stand out as a reminder to embrace who you are, even if it means going against expectations.

One lyric that inspires me is:
“I’m a rebel with a heart.”

This line shows that being strong and independent doesn’t mean losing kindness or emotion. It encourages me to balance confidence with compassion, and to live boldly while staying true to my feelings. Listening to Rebel Heart always gives me the motivation to trust myself and keep moving forward.

Looking back at these songs, I realize how much K‑Pop has shaped my journey. From Seventeen’s comforting words in Not Alone, to ATEEZ’s encouragement in Dreamer, ENHYPEN’s powerful messages in Shoot Out and Into the I-LAND, ITZY’s confidence in Wannabe, and IVE’s boldness in Rebel Heart—each track has given me strength in different ways. These lyrics are more than just lines in a song; they are reminders to keep moving forward, to believe in myself, and to embrace who I am.

Music truly has no borders, but in this blog I wanted to celebrate the K‑Pop songs that became my companions through sadness and joy. They continue to inspire me every day, and I hope they can inspire others too.
